Relations and Functions in math 10C
Did you know that we are surrounded by mathematical relations and functions? For example, the relationship between speed and fuel consumption and the relationship between the distance of a projector from a wall and the size of the words on the board are just 2 examples of relations. When you have a special relation for which every element of the independent variable corresponds to only one element of the dependent variable we call the relation a function. Math 10C students learned to recognize functions using the Vertical Line Test: If a vertical line intersects the graph in more than 2 points, the graph is not a function. Neat eh?
