Cell Phone Policy Changes at DVSS
The new school year has brought some changes to the cell phone policy at DVSS.
Students may use their cell phone in the school hallways during morning, lunch break and after school. 8;00a.m.-8:40 a.m., 11;57 a.m.-12:40 p.m., 3:24 p.m. - onward.
Once the bell rings for classes to start, all conversations and use of devices are to be halted and curtailed immediately and the device is not to be used until the dismissal bell for lunch or at the end of the day. During class time teachers will have cell phone pockets in their classroom numbered from 1 to 36. You will be assigned a number for your class and your device will need to be turned off or put on airplane mode and placed in the cell phone pocket for the duration of the class. Parents will need to call the office to reach their child duyring class time.
The rationale for this change will be explained and shared with parents as we move through the semester.
Students in the school, during class time and not part of a scheduled class, will also curtail device use.
Devices may be used during class when the teacher deems it appropriate and will ask students to retrieve it from the cell phone pocket.
Teachers may expect students to surrender devices if it interrupts or creates a distraction.
