First Day of School
Dear Parents and Students,
I hope this message finds you well as we prepare for the upcoming school year. I would like to remind everyone that the first day of school is on Tuesday, September 3rd. We are excited to kick off the year with a special assembly in the gymnasium.
As students arrive, please settle into the gymnasium to start the day together. For our Grade 7 students, we invite you to travel to the Library for a quieter environment to ease into the school year.
Schedules are now live and we apologize for the delay in their release due to ongoing PowerSchool and technology issues leading up to the start of school. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Schedules will be available if needed after our assembly if you are new to our school, or unable to access your PowerSchool at this time.
If you would like to request a change in classes, you may do so as in the past during the first two weeks of the semester, until September 13th. Please note that requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will do our best to work through them as quickly as possible. Requests can be submitted via the Google form linked here or by scanning the attached QR code.
If you are in Grades 11 and 12 and have been working for the summer, we encourage you to ask your employer to fill out the Work Experience form linked here and bring in your hours for high school credits.
I also encourage you to review the Superintendent's letter posted on our school website (www.drumvss.ca). This letter outlines our school division's response to the recent Ministerial Order. Many questions you may have are addressed in the FAQ section.
For our students in grades 7-12, personal mobile devices that can be used to communicate or access the internet or a cellular network (for example, cell phones and smart watches) must be powered off or silent and stored out of view during scheduled instructional times. Students may use their devices before and after school, during breaks, and at lunch. As in past years, students are still able and encouraged to bring their own laptops and Chromebooks to use for academic purposes.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day!
Warm regards,
Dana Yemen
