Work Experience
Senior High students can earn up to 15 credits credits towards graduation. Each 125 hours of work will earn five credits. However, the following criteria must be met:
- Each student, in grade 10, is given a course called HCS3000 - Work Place Safety Systems - this is a one credit course that is mandatory for Work Experience or RAP credit to be awarded.
- Work Experience Agreement - signed by: student, parent, employer, and principal
- Monthly Time Sheets
- Final Employer Evaluation
RAP - Registered Apprenticeship Program
Senior High students can earn up to 40 credits towards graduation. Each 125 hours of work will earn five credits. The student must be at least 16 years of age to participate the employer must have one staff member on site with a journeyman's ticket. Here is a list of available Trades in Alberta. However, the following criteria must be met:
- Each student, in grade 10, is given a course called HCS3000 - Work Place Safety Systems - this is a one credit course that is mandatory for Work Experience or RAP credit to be awarded.
- The student must find their own work placement
- RAP Agreement - signed by: student, parent, employer, and principal
- Monthly Time Sheets
- Final Employer Evaluation
RAP is a win, win, win scenario. The student earns credits, gets paid by the employer, and earns up to a 1000 hours towards their journeyman's ticket.
