Work Experience & RAP

Through work experience and RAP (registered apprenticeship program) students can gain experience, life skills and high school credits.

*For every 125 hours worked, grade 10-12's can earn 5 credits towards graduation

RAP - Registered Apprenticeship Program

Earn up to 40 credits overall towards graduation. Students can earn high school credits while getting paid by employer and gain on-the-job training hours toward an apprenticeship program. Earn up to a 1000 hours toward a journeyman's ticket.

*NOTE: Students must find their own work placement where the employer agrees to have one staff member with a journeyman's ticket on site at all times.

Criteria & Steps To Complete:

  1. At least 16 years of age 
  2. HCS3000 (1 credit Safety Course) - Offered in CALM class in gr 10
  3. Recommended: HCS3010: Workplace Safety Practices
  4. Work Experience Agreement - signed by: student, parent, employer, and principal
  5. Monthly Time Sheets
  6. Final Employer Evaluation
  7. Apply for an Apprenticeship Education Program through mytradesecrets.ca

Careers The Next Generation

Careers is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering students the opportunity to explore a career in the trades. They work to locate potential work-placements for Alberta students.
